FEC kits
« on: August 30, 2016, 12:54:36 pm »
I am sold on the idea of doing a FEC while the sheep are in so I want to start doing my own FECs.  The official kits are super expensive.  I'm therefore looking to buy a microscope, slides and whatever else I need separately, secondhand maybe from e-bay.

What sort of microscope do I need and what should I avoid? Same with slides and what other stuff will I need?
Never ever give up.

Microscope with 100 x magnification and a moveable table (£100 or less)
McMaster slide £30/£40 for a decent one ----worth the cost if you ask me

Other stuff you prob have around---measuring jug, tea strainer, salt water you can make up etc

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELECTRONI...912?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a4d032be8

A tea strainer

Couple of spatulas (old teaspoons work ok)/ lollipop sticks

Plastic pipettes

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIPETTES-...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2ecae1ffe2

beakers as you can use them to measure the liquid

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100ml-Tra...562?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27d409ccb2

Microscope like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001BPQL4C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
