I have 5 sheep to shear, what would you expect to pay for that?
Also, how soon after shearing can I protect against flystrike - I recon they'll be here soon given how warm and dry it is

You need to wait atleast 2 weeks after shearing really to allow some of the wool to grow back, otherwise the chemical can burn the skin.

Once sheared you should be fairly safe against flystrike for a while.  I would probably do your lambs now though if you can.

Just done all of mine this morning and the ewes as I know the shearers won't be here for a few weeks yet

Did the ewes and shearlings a couple of weeks ago and then it turned cold again. Shearer coming Sunday so will do the lambs whilst they are in

Please be careful to follow withdrawl and handling guidance for pour ons as any residues geting onto shearers or into water courses when wool is washed can be devastating to the natural environment. :o

A clean sheared ewe is unlikely to get maggots - we don't treat the ewes after they are clipped, only the lambs.
