Jamie needs a new home
« on: May 18, 2010, 11:17:42 pm »
My name is Jamie (my Mum has a wicked sense of humour when naming her animals ::))and I have lived here since I was 12 weeks old, so my Mum didn't know I was going to be a boy  ::) I am a very handsome Light Sussex Cockerel, but my present Mum says I have a very loud voice and her neighbours have started to complain. So I have to pack my little bird suitcase and find new lodgings. I don't know what my ex-battery girlfriends are going to do without me as they find me quite amorous, but I suppose they will have a quieter life. I have been free ranging in Mum's half acre paddock so although not a 'tough old bird' I don't think I am quite dinner table material! But I am so good looking and I can strut for Scotland! Here are a few photos of me with my ladies.
I hope someone can find me a new home.  Mum says she isn't botherd about getting money fro me so much as finding me a home where I can 'sing' to my heart's content, without fear of litigation for her, whatever that means!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Jamie, you are a very handsome boy.  I do hope someone can give you a nice new home.  Much too far away to come and live with my menagerie unfortunately.

I have seen lots of cockerels looking for a new home, due to neighbours complaints.  I even saw an ad from someone telling people not to even think of keeping a cockerel, as it was not fair on neighbours.  I even saw a Jack donkey for sale, because a neighbour had threatened legal action over his braying!!

I have 8 cockerels, of various breeds a amongst my large flock, and they are only down a field from three properities.  Granted, there was only two, until the barns were converted.  No one has complained yet, but I am sure they will.  One of the houses is up for sale, so the new people, could take offence at my crowing cockerels.

If i did not allready have a "Jamie" of my own, i would gladly take him.But i have enough competition, between my LS and my Pekin, until i get my runs sorted.

Surely they cannot force you to clear our you cockerels as you have been a longer resident, thats when we were told after our new neighbours(who thankfully have moved) complained about our cockerels crowing.

I don't know, Cameron.  Nowadays, people seem to take priority over animals in respect of noise, smells, etc.  Folks want to move to the country, then complain about the noise, smell etc.  But I have to put up with these people having parties, barbeques, bonfires and the like, and thats allowed.
