Gift ideas

I'm not sure where to post this? I am wondering what gift I can buy for a dear friend who has just had an operation and needs cheering up. Nothing edible at all, as it was her jaw. Could anyone suggest anything at all? I have been thinking of the stuff which she really enjoys to do, but can't seem to come up with much at all. I'm not very good at crafting things, could anyone recommend anything at all?

Is she crafty?  Something to do is always good.

yes she is, I was thinking maybe to outline on cross stitch a good picture of my buffalo which I have and sew it in with really lovely colours, would that work do you think? Problem is I have never done this before and I really want it to be perfect! Any tips anyone?

What a lovely idea  :)     I understood backinwellies meant for you to give your friend something for her to craft/make.  Something to keep her occupied as she recovers.  For the buffs, you could transfer the outline onto the cross stitch fabric for her, choose all the colours she will need, plus needles, then give her a copy of the photo and she can stitch from there.  You could even get her a frame for when she's finished

That would be a great gift for someone who is recovering and has to rest.

Yep, I'm in favour of getting her something she can do herself too.

When I was recovering from a car accident I found the days endless and was only too happy to have some knitting/sewing/embroidery to do.

The outline of one of your buffalo sounds good to me.
