Hi to everyone,
I am new to this site, we should be getting are chickens this next week or so, we are at the moment just sorting out the foundations for the hen house and the run for them. We have an 6 x 4 shed which we are going to line with plywood to make it a bit less drafty for them. Any suggestions on what I could paint it with for easy cleaning, I was thinking of just plain emulsion, is this a good idea or not? On reading a book we have been given, the house has to be cleaned regularly to prevent red mite is that correct?  And also what do you clean it with, Jeyes Fluid??
I need help any suggestions on this,

An excellent preserver for the wood which will also inhibit Red Mite is to use Creosote instead of paint. Most agricultural merchants will sell it if the DIY store don't.

Thanks for that, I have some Cuprinol wood stain, I assume that will do the trick, more eco-friendly than creosote.

You can't get creosote anymore but the new version is creoseal which we have used on both our chicken houses and our wooden pig arc with no complaints.
