hello,

I have a smallholding that we rent in a very rural part of the shropshire hills between long mynd and wenlock edge. We have about 8 acres maybe a bit more, an orchard with some very old fruit trees, a polytunnel, veg and soft fruit garden, chickens - rhodes, blubelle, magpies - although we lost them all to a badger three days ago so are about to re-invest, a welsh sect b rescue pony and two rescue and very temper temper firey rescue shetlands, a pointer puppy, a cat and we have just started up with a dairy goat and billy kid (have no idea what I am supposed to be doing with them). The farm we rent has a considerable amount of land which a local farmer rents and it has sheep, sows and beef cattle on.

I have two children 19 months and a 4 yr old, run a business from home 3-4 days a week and my husband lives in london all week - so I'm kinda busy!!!

Would love to hear from you all espesh anyone with goats!!!! And advice!!!!

I think Shropshire is really nice, some lovely places, and beautiful countryside.  One of my ponies came from Shropshire, and we were there yesterday collecting two new goats!!

I have quite a menagerie, which includes 22 goats of various breeds and ages.

Hi and welcome from Australia.  We have cattle, pigs, horses, chickens and goats.  I have a young orchard, wish it was an old orchard like yours, one of our goats gets out through wombat diggings and insists on pruning my young fruit trees  .

Hello Sporter,

I have already replied to your post in the goats area, but thought I'd say hello here as well. I own a house with my mum, and my boyfriend moved in with us as well over a year ago.

We only have just over an acre, but we breed and show dairy goats, and at the moment have far too many! I think we are at 20 just now, but a new male kid is in the offing too, though we hope to sell some as well over the next few months.

We have most breeds because we each have our own goats- I have Anglo-Nubians, my mum has British Toggenburg's and British Alpine's, my boyfriend has British Toggenburg's and an Anglo-Nubian, oh and my neices have a British Toggenburg milker, and a couple of British Saanen's.

We go to our first show of the year this weekend- can't wait, but I have so much to do to get ready!

Hi from West Wales - we have goats (dairy & meat breeds, though only as a hobby now), Icelandic horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs etc (and I've worked with cattle in the past)
