one cockerel so far
« on: May 26, 2010, 09:12:41 pm »
out of our first hatch we have had one cockerel from four eggs,
we think it is cos its comb and wattle seems to be coming on alot stronger
than the others.(correct me please if this is not a proved way of telling)
our other three that are in the brooder are doing great, two marrans and one lohman brown.
at the mo we have eight in the incu, we just candled and deffently got five.
hope all is well for everyone ;)

If there is only one cockerel, you have done well.  Out of five chicks, I fully expect 3 to be cockerels, and if its only 2, I am well pleased!!!

I have been inspecting the silkies my friend gave me ......I hope I am wrong, but suspect two are cockerels, and there is sure to be a third knowing my luck.
