Hi all, is anyone planning to go to Wonderwool this year? I am going with my daughter Amy again this year, we are planning on going on the Sunday as the third member of our party owns a yarn shop so can't make Saturday. If anyone is planning to go we could perhaps meet for a coffee. :knit: :spin: :excited:

I'm going but on the Saturday again so won't be able to meet up this year, Louise.

It would have been good to meet up again. If our plans change and we do go on Saturday I will let you know. Just make sure there are still woolly goodies left for us on Sunday!

Hmmm, Not sure if I am going this year.

I would love to but already have so much stuff stacked away that I dare not buy anything else, and I know I can't trust myself to just 'window shop'

Yes, with luck I'll be there with   'The crafty goat club',
I haven't heard for sure yet if we've got a stall but it's the new craft group part of Welsh and West angora goat club.
This will prompt me to get in touch with the others and check progress.

Let us know if you do get a stall and I'll make sure I look out for you.

Sally, I know what you mean. I was very good last time though and didn't spend much at all. I did have to keep reminding myself that I hadn't used half the stuff I bought the year before though.

What I did buy was quite a large quantity of white merino/silk tops with the idea of spinning and knitting a baby shawl for grandchild number seven but it's still either on the wheel or in a bag in its original state and grandchild number seven is now four months old (today actually).

And I still haven't used the rigid heddle loom or peg loom that I bought the year before last!!

I still have things in my stash from last year, but Amy and I had such a good time last year, and saw so much interesting woolly goodness we thought we would have a girly day out, and no doubt add a few more things to our ever increasing store of all things wool!

Lesley I am currently in New Zealand and OH is going to buy me some lovely wool for my birthday. It's merino and possum  :)

Ooh possum sounds interesting. You'll have to let us know what it's like.

We haven't bought it yet as I am still making up my mind what to have but the yarn with the possum in it is beautifully soft

I am intrigued by possum in yarn- is this from farmed possums or do they harvest it from the wild? I hope you are having a good time in New Zealand, you are not missing much here, it is still wet and windy!

Louise they seem to use possum in a lot of yarns here. Other than that I don't know much about them. You see a lot as road kill but I haven't seen a live one. The Ashford place was selling possum off cuts to use in craft work.
The official weather forecast on the tv was 'it's gonna be stinking hot'. Definitely not missing the weather at home. Lots of  :sunshine: :sunshine: :sunshine: here

Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Apparently, ( and don't let this put you off!) the possum fleece comes from road kill post mortem, they are seen as vermin and so not formally farmed.
