It is your right to vote.  It is your responsibility to vote.  the right and responsibility were won hard for us women. Do your homework.  Listen to what your candidates say.  Ignore the loudmouthed front faces - they are only in it for the money and power.  Vote locally!

I agree Annie. Whatever your political persuasion it is a responsibilty for over 18 year olds to vote. There are loads of helpful website that go through questionairres to assist in your choice, you should also be able to do a bit of Reading on the net about your local candidate and of course there are the debates. However you chose to become better informed i would urge everyone to exercise their right to vote. After all if you don't vote you have no right to complain about the government that we get!

Its a very rough cut guide between left and right wing politics but take a look at this to help you decide your voting:-
http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/leftvright_world.html

If you want to understand the 'vertical' dimension of left, right in modern politics then take a read here and do the test:-

I'd much rather be out on the yard than thinking of politics :)

I'd rather not think about it either but it affects all of us so I do think about it. It's really difficult though.

If David Cameron could walk on water, I couldn't vote Tory and Dan and I have our own businesses. It's not just DC, but George Orborne and the frightful Gove man, who's shadow education minister. And Annabelle Goldie, leader of teh Scottish Tories. Aaarrrghhh. Where did they find her? She's bonkers. And scary.
I love how their "Choose hope not fear" slogan has bit them on the bum - now they are cr*pping themselves about a balanced parliament, they're trying to scare folk into voting for them. True colours, I think.

I'll stick with SNP and hope they hold a powerful hand - no Trident, no GM, decent public services.

I have no interest in any of the parties, or their long speeches on what they will do.  As far as I can see, they have never done anything for us.  Their main interest seems to lie with helping people with children, giving tax credits, child care allowances.  What about those of us who do not have children?

Labour have held the seat in our area for the last two elections.  He is stepping down, so it will be interesting to see if the Tories manage to get in.

The only reason I am on the electoral register is because it helps with such things as mortgage applications, otherwise, I would not be.

If I thought my vote would do any good, then yes, I may vote. But, its promises all along, and then its the same story whoever gets in.

Well said Rosemary re Tories. They have one elected  UK MP in the whole of Scotland and I hope there is one less after this election. If England votes in a Tory government they will have no mandate to govern Scotland nor will they care about Scottish issues. Time for a referendum I think!
