Wanted - A little bit of Barley Straw
« on: April 09, 2010, 09:09:08 pm »
I'm wanting to use some Barley straw to help clean up a pond of Blanket weed.  I thought I would be cheeky and ask if anyone has some that I could have please,  I just need a good carrier bag full please so don't really want to buying a whole bale.

A cheeky question to ask I know, but i thought i would try! ;) ;D

Hi Miri, have you tried your local pet/goldfish shop? My local store sells small amounts of barley straw in nylon nets for less than £1.

OK will try that.  I hadn't 'cause I thought they would sell it for vast cost for very small amounts, but I think I can stretch to a pound!

Yes, they sell it for small animals. Pets at home have it too.

We have big round bales of straw, but to be honest, not exactly sure whether its barley or not.  Its very yellow.  If it is barley you could have as much as you wanted!!

Thanks for the offer Roxy, but I'll go to Pets At Home or somewhere similar.
