I think I'm in love!
« on: April 04, 2010, 09:27:18 pm »
We went to a childrens farm yesterday and totally fell in love with this goat.  She was beautiful and gentle and just adorable.  This photo was taken just after she had sort of jumped on Harry so maybe it was better that there was a fence between us!

That looks like a very friendly Anglo-Nubian! That's the breed I have, and one of the reason I like them so much is because they are so affectionate- far more so I find than the other breeds. We'll need to get you sorted with one Minimaran!

Our field boundary is a dry stone wall and we don't have the money to put a fence in front of the wall so I'm afraid goats are out for us.  I do much prefer the look of the Anglo-Nubians - they are truly beautiful, majestic animals.  This one also had lovely colouring, like an African Wild Dog.

Not enough males born? That makes a nice change! Most people I've heard of/from haven't had great kiddings so far.

Having spoken to a lady who rears a lot of goats for meat, she told me that the Anglo Nubian are by far the best ones for this purpose.  I msut say, having had a female some years ago, and now Cain and Abel, I do think they are a really nice breed.  Cain and Abel draw some comments from passers by, especially their long legs and very long ears.
