Topping question
« on: September 16, 2015, 10:57:57 pm »
Hello all,

I have about 4 acres of paddock which I recently acquired. The grass is about knee height in places and about 10 inches elsewhere. I want to keep it under control so it looks clean and tidy and green for the time being. I don't want animals
I have a tractor with a topper and have topped about half of ithe paddock but it has left large clumps of cut grass all over the paddock. I worry that this is just going to lead to a big mess.  What is the best thing to do?  Will it turn into a big soggy mess with the wet weather or should I collect it somehow / spread it about. Obviously a big area so will need some sort of tractor implement.
As you can probably tell, I am a complete novice !!!

Top it again in a week or 2s time (when it has been dry preferably).  The clumps will get spread around/ chopped up a bit more and will eventually rot and disappear.

You should find you can travel with the topper a bit lower/ in a gear higher with each successive passing as you get it more under control and the excess stuff disappears.

Thanks. I have topped it agin perpendicular to my original run and that has spread it out / mulched it a little so I think it's the way ahead.  Thanks for you help.
