 >:( Three mornings this week i have found one of my hens locked inside one of the feed bins,

getting a bit P'ed off with it now, even though the birds are not harmed, i just don't like the thought of someone snooping around up there
(there is no chance it was an acident as the feed bins are in a different shed, and it's not a member
of the family as we can't get out the house without waking the dogs, but the sheds are at the other end of the garden away from the dog kennel)

would rather they locked me in the bin instead of the birds  >:(

Hope it's a different hen each time or one of them will get extremely fat!

strange isnt it, there are some funny people around. We regulally find hens in our feedbins along with the odd egg or 2 but we just use the plastic dustbins  so they seem to find it quite easy to knock the slightly wonky lids off and then have themselves a chicken feast!  :D

Cameron this is really naughty my next door neighbour had all I mean all his garden tools stolen from his shed So I thought me next so being a bit of a devil I asked Shep if he had a half empty sheep marker aerosol he could spare "Course what colour blue" Fine it don't matter about the colour. So I drilled and plugged the wall and made a little box the size of the can I made the back about 1" higher than the sides and front fixed a ply lid on a hinge on and inserted the can I made a wedge that kept the lid off the spray button and secured a 7lb weight to the lid.and fastened the wedge string to the door. The spray nozzle being about average face high.So my friendly thief comes along cuts the lock off the door opens it and goes in.The wedge is pulled out the weighted lid drops and the blue is every where. Now this doesn't hurt but explaining how he/she comes to have a blue face and ruined jacket is a little bit difficult and extremely difficult to remove as you may well know ??? 8) ;D ;D :farmer:Ps not had a visit yet

i wouldn't want anyone moving my hens around.. i agree that it wouldn't be nice to think that someone is prowling around at night, when you think that you are safe...........

I think you should set a trap of some sort....

I'd sit out all night waiting for them...

You can get a fairly cheap shed alarm, that may be the other option. Otherwise, let your dogs out!!!

Isn't it a sad day when small, defenceless and innocent animals can't just live their life in peace and quiet?

At least they're not being murdered like a pig my friend had a couple of years ago.  Her land is 5 miles from her present house and she went up one morning to find the poor thing butchered to bits.  Police no help although they all had a good idea who the culprit was.
