bad start

looks like our first attempt at hatching eggs has come to a boo boo :'(
better chuck next time!
hope all is going well for ye who are giving it ago ;) :chook:

Oh no I'm sorry to hear that. I put mine in last night. Do you have an idea what might have gone wrong?

I've never tried hatching but it must be sooo disappointing.  Dont give up langdon.

you must have set them 3 weeks ago so eggs about a month old now, that was still cold weather, not a good choice. are any birds nesting yet? NO, take a lesson from nature, wait till march april

done turning when needed too.
we just put 6 in so next time we are putting in a good batch.

if you put them in 6 days ago hows that a bad hatch, you cant candle them till 10 days old ?????

With the instructions I have with my candler it is 6 days

Helen I have had eggs that have been in the incubator for 12 days before they show any sign of development.

unless your dealing with light coloured shells my bulb in the box set up does not show enough detail to risk discarding at such an early time. i prefer the second week and then i will only chuck the clear. at six days you will miss things. especially if your new at checking

iv been incubating for a long time ..my first hatch out off 400 was 4 yes thats right 1000 pounds worth off eggs gone 6 split chocklate fetch 50 pound on e bay i had 150 in the incubate alone ...problem the eggs was collected at 11 the temp was 0 so that no knockt out the fertility as well as hymidity was to high snow melt out side .so bought in 200 eggs from dawn south candled them 20 thats it . very impotent to get eggs hatched nae .will be in lay september .wether has been so bad .so remember its not you ...1 very good eggs not off e bay no longer than 3 days old 2 temp still air or auto .3 hymidity 45 to 50 no more .and dint use pullet eggs to weak .you will crack it all the best .ps just been dawn to the pens hens going broody . no chicks
