Rare and Traditional Breeds Sale, Lanark 29th September
« on: August 10, 2015, 11:09:56 am »
For your diaries, sale of rare and traditional breeds at Lanark Agricultural Centre on Saturday 29th August. I hear it's a big entry

The sale also incorporates the 2015 National Shetland Sheep Show and Sale (Friday 28th August Show, 10am and Saturday 29th August Sale, 10am). This is a big deal for Shetland breeders with 20 Champions from all over the UK competing for the Champion of Champions. There is also a craft and fleece competition. Contact secretary[member=26414]shetland[/member]-sheep.org.uk or see the Society website www.shetland-sheep.org.uk

There is also a breed show and sale of Hebridean sheep.

As a side remark, animals purchased at the sale will be eligible to be shown at the Scottish Smallholder Festival at the same venue on 26th September. Animals have to be in the exhibitors' ownership on 1st September and entries close on Friday 4th September. www.ssgf.uk for schedules and entry forms for the festival.

Can I clarify that to say it's THE Hebridean Sheep Society Scottish Show and Sale of Hebridean Sheep, which used to be held in Stirling.  Lanark is now our new home.
There will be sheep for sale from far to the north as well as from deepest England, so this is a great chance to bring in fresh bloodlines to your flock, and to spread your own flock bloodlines far and wide.

For details check out Lawrie and Symington's (the auction mart) website or the HSS website: www.hebrideansheep.org.uk

Closing date for entries is Friday 15th August.
