The quick answer.... Yes.

Ducks however have to have a drake with them for them to lay.

Yes. Vegetarians eat unfertilised eggs as they are not embryos and therefore meat. Hermit

Domestic fowl trust actually suggest that hens lay better without a cockeral hassling running with them as they are less stressed ...but then I'm STILL only getting 3 a day from 11 hens (no cockeral) so can't really say much  ::)

I have 9 girls that run with a cockerel and most days I am getting 8 or 9 eggs. The ducks are now laying good too.

And me!  My girls did - for 3 months after my last drake was killed by Allez's grannie(retreived him by the neck instead of the body poor thing), they kept on laying from August until I was given Jack in December.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Well in this bit of Gt Britain  they are known by everyone as roosters that inc top breeders. Does it really matter? Most people know what is meant by a rooster.

no it doesnt matter i was being trivial, it only matters if you dont want to be americainised. if you want a rooster they live in the usa. i dont mind the yanks but i dont want to be americianised. hoods, trunks, fries, to go, over easy, and definiatly not have a nice day. god save us.

I can be even more trivial ::) It's actually a cock if it's mature. A cockerel is a young un. I don't think people like saying cock ;D
