Power cut planned for day 9 incubator!
« on: March 18, 2010, 01:07:12 pm »
They've only gone and bloody done it - after uninterrupted electricity supply for as long as I can remember they've decided to turn it off for 8 hours during my first ever attempt at using an incubator!  I put the eggs in the incubator this morning about 5 hours before they dropped by to inform me of the power down!

Oh well, I guess I have to laugh otherwise I'd cry ;D ;D :'(

It'll happen on day 9, does anybody have any suggestions?

Would a car or leisure battery give enough power?
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

PHEW  I've found someone with a dc - av converter that plugs into a cigarette lighter  ;D ;D ;D

I'll just have to leave the car on all day.

I really thought I'd lost them!

invertors are very inaficent they use more power than they chuck out so a car or liesure battery wont last long maybe less than 2 hours depending on the consumption of the incy. i went to an auction and got one of those 60s/70s grey cabinet parifin incys as a back up, you can get them on ebay sometimes, look out for one as a backup. theres one on ebay now its 10 mile from me might bid, i paid £14 for mine, ebay number 220570380681
