Grit.

Another question if you will allow me please.
At what age should I offer mixed grit to my chicks? They are 9 weeks old ( Wyandottes and Cream Legbars : LF) but quite big for their age, now living out in a grass run, locked in the hen-house at night. They are healthy and very active but there is no natural grit in their run.
Is it time to offer mixed grit and oyster shell?

I give my chicks small grit as soon as they go into the pen off heat.

as above, mine get 'chick grit' (no shell) from the time they are on grass-they go through lots of it. Oyster shell generally isn't needed until they come into lay (and then layers pellets contain it).

We sieve out the small bits of regular mixed grit and give to ours at 4 weeks -2 weeks before they go out onto grass and before they get any chick grain treats.
