ive got 6 ixworth cockerals now 1 year old theyve got to go, too noisy, has anyone tried to fatten a 1 year old bird do they put meat on or just fat, they were free range so no breast meat, ive penned them up now in a fattening pen but dont want to feed them about £25 worth of food for no results. i know older ducks just put fat on.

don't see a problem, I just caught up our boy from last year who's been freeranging, must say was happy with how much meat he has on him, will probably confine him for a week or so when the time comes, last older cock bird was yummy.
see rockchicks threads on fattening on practical poultry forum.
