What makes you happy ?
« on: March 04, 2010, 07:46:21 pm »
I have had one of those rare days where my brain has been working quite well, I thought to myself how easy it was for me to feel happy and content. Sunshine, shopping at the garden centre for plants and seeds. watching my ponies playing in the fields. Walking my dogs along our country road, spending time in my garden planning this years crops. waiting for my Oh to come home from a days work and chat about our day. I think now that I am older 58 it is a lot easier to be content, worry less and thank God for every new day that I am still here to enjoy. What about the rest of you ?  :)

At 66, I feel much the same.  Much more contented than i was years ago, but I do miss having John (or Sandy for that matter) around to chat to of an evening.  Thank goodness for TAs so I can chat to you folks.  Thank you. ;D

I love seeing the sun make more regular appearances at this time of year  :D

Being able to get outside into the fresh air (without several layers and the threat of frostbite ;)) and watching the world wake up after a long winter always makes me happy.

I don't know that age has much to do with it (As Joan Collins said "Age is just a number. It's totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine") - I think it's more of a 'mindset', once you realise what you actually NEED out of life, rather than always striving for what you WANT or think you should have, it's easier to be content.

Sunshine on my face and my boys laughing together (happens very rarely as they always argue).

Yesterday I saw a Honey Bee and today I saw a Butterfly and there are masses of Ladybirds emerging from all nooks and a crannies - these small things make me happy.

:) I popped out yesterday and everywhere looked so wonderful and I had to say how happy I felt, the only down side is I wish my family were here to enjoy things with me :(.I started my shopping trip with a visit to a house hold wears shop and picked some fake flowers, I had left my glasses in t he car and could see some were reduced so was surprised at the till when the assistant added it up more than I had planned so I told her it was due to me not seeing properly and I ended up taking more anyway, then I paid and made a few jokes about not seeing and turned around and walked into the window display  ;D ;D the whole shop was giggling and so was I, the assistant said "you had better go back to get your glassess" I imajine that was the talk of the day and I kept chuckling about it, then I went onto Morrisons,I went to put the trolly back and found  the person before me had got the thing for putting the money stuck so I tried to get it out (took seconds), and a retired gentleman behind me looked grumpy pushed to my side, and pulled out another trolly, I smiled at him and he went off, I really wanted to say " what a nice day to be in such a hurry!" but I didn't, everyone else was nice though.....P.S funny how I have been sooooo much more laid back since hitting 50, nothing bothers me so much and thats great :)

You should have seen what I typed before I sent that last message ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously though, Sandy is my bestest friend down here but as Rosemary said, she should be on the stage. ;)
