No Fiona not one that leaves a Mushroom Cloud behind. It is one that is at the National Physics Lab at Anthorn in Cumbria It broadcast 59 second pulses and then a minute marker on the minute It transmits with the call sign MSF and is reputedly accurate to a second in 1,ooo,ooo years The pulse can be heard over most of Western Europe and transmitts GMT The year the month the day the hour and minute on 60 Hz which is indeed a very low frequency. The clocks at Frankfurt transmit on 60Hz with a power of 17kw and can be picked up at a radius of a 1000 miles from the transmitter. In the U.S UTC Cesium std is used and the time is transmitted world wide on 5-10and 15 mega cycles these signals can be heard by the human ear on a radio that receives in any of the bands on the hour it transmit its code in Morse WWV or .__ .__ ..._ Hope you've enjoyed your mini lec on modern time its far removed from John Harrisons clocks :D :farmer:
