Horsetails/Marestail
« on: June 21, 2015, 01:11:44 pm »
Just wondered if anyone knows if this plant is ok for sheep to eat? There's loads of it growing near to the field I keep  my sheep in. When I moved them from one field to another, they seem interested in it, but I move them away as I'm not sure about it. Thanks

I know marestail is edible when young then gets 'inedible' but don't know if that means tough or poisonous

I know its poisonous for horses.
Not sure about sheep but I personally wouldn't want to chance it.

According to my poisonous plant book it is more of a problem in hay.
