Oh how I hate the waiting! Update
« on: May 16, 2015, 01:40:18 pm »
I had 2 ewes lamb over a week ago and thought that the other 3 wouldn't be far behind, but no they are making me wait. One is due triplets and has a back like a table on her and the other two twins, that's assuming the scanner got these right. My second to lamb ewe had triplets and not the twins we expected, she chose the worst weather and 2am to lamb, fist lamb was freezing cold and needed a hot water bottle and a heat lamp, the other two I just couldn't get going at all, they were born alive, cleared their airways rubbed them with a towel but they just died. So naturaly I am very nervous now about the other 3.

Aye I feel for you!

The last of the scanned ewes (a hogg) lambed yesterday, and she's hung on a good 10 days after the main batch were done (in three weeks). I now have at least two 'dry' ewes (i.e scanned empty) that have bagged up! So christ knows when they will come.

And I had a very similar experience with triplets, the only ewe that my scanner got wrong was a twin that was in fact a triplet and was the last of the 'twins' to lamb. . . . . right in the middle of a torrential, icy, down pour. . . . . . one lamb dead when I got there, one died 24 hours later, despite me getting it up, feeding, bleating etc, and one lamb left with the ewe!

Bloody sheep!

Nothing more frustrating, I found that after waiting 3 weeks for the last one to lamb. The more I watched the more I convinced myself it was happening every day!

First one born at 5am, second one just before 7 when I decided to go in and have a look, pulled him out and went back in for his brother who had his head back and needed a bit of manoeuvring. Very pleased 3 healthy boys for the freezer!  :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:
