lame ewe advice please
« on: May 09, 2015, 08:55:42 am »
My ewe is slightly lame. I've checked her foot and it feels quite warm. I was going to give her some metacam and a shot of alymycin la. Is that what other people would do in this case?  Thank you.

Definitely a good first line treatment. Does the hoof look to have any flappy bits or redness in the skin around the hoof? Worth giving the injections you mentioned and looking again in 2-3 days to see if anything develops or any damaged hoof needs trimmed

Thanks for the helpful advice Fsmnutter! I've given her Metacam and Alymycin La. Checked her feet, there doesn't seem to be anything obvious. So will just keep a close eye on her over the next few days and hope to see an improvement.
