Author Topic: Possible to incubate goose and duck eggs together? (Read 3616 times)

I'm thinking of putting a few Aylesbury duck eggs in the incubator and speaking to a neighbour today they are thinking of hatching out some goslings- can we save running 2 incubators and put all of our eggs in one incubator? Or do goose eggs require longer/more/less humidity/temperatures compared to duck eggs?

I have done it I put the goose eggs in first (or in my case under as I used a broody hen and turned the 2 goose eggs by hand

) then 2 days later put the duck eggs in and with luck they will hatch out the same time

Yes. I do it regularly. If you don't want to be fiddling around with the incubator at hatch, you could transfer the duck eggs across to the second incubator at shut down and give the geese a couple more days. Geese are so variable anyway, it's hard to predict - last week they both hatched at pretty much the same time, this week I had two ducks out and the geese were another three days.

Only have 1 incubator (our neighbour was thinking about buying their own but we both came to the conclusion there wasn't much point in that if mine only runs half full) $:-\$ was thinking about putting goose eggs in a couple of days before the duck eggs.
