So this is why their water gets so mucky

They've been found out  ::)

Our holding has Anglo Nubian and British Toggenburg goats, Gotland sheep, Franconian Geese, Blue Swedish ducks, a whole load of mongrel hens and two semi-feral children.

My ducks walk around like this all day. My grass edges are full of round holes which, at first I thought were mouse holes, but no, they are duck beak holes  ::)

I wonder if anybody else has seen this:

Our geese have a kids paddling pool for a pond, and spend much of the day filling it with whatever they can find (mostly sticks and beech nuts from the trees). It's almost as though they're trying to build a nest in it.

Any ideas?  ???

How do they get in and out of the pool Womble.  Are they big enough to step in and out?

Yes, it's just one of these (minus the sand of course)

Mines a red turtle  :roflanim: so much easier then the pond we originally used which needed cleaning on a weekly basis as it got so filthy.

They also managed to create an entire maze in my previous lawn by rooting up the grass in long survey lines, made it a nightmare to cut.

Our geese have a large pond, but they still love their 'bath tubs' of two shallow tub trugs. They pull grass up by the roots where the ground is soft; swish it in the tub and then eat it. I presume it is to wash the soil off the tasty roots. We also have lots of wibble holes in the grass.

We have several sources of water for geese, pigs and sheep, two halves of a life raft cover, large lick tubs and rubber trugs, plus a "proper" galvanised trough. The geese go to each one in turn and filthy it up ::)

Would geese mow my grass for me or just make great holes in it?  I have a puppy that does that for me! :innocent:

No, geese don't dibble as long as the females have plenty of large grit. They will keep your lawn like a bowling green but do need plenty of grass.

....A rather poopy bowling green.  I love my geese but they do have some throughput!
