scouring ewes
« on: April 14, 2015, 12:43:12 pm »
My ewes have all just lambed and are now out on lush pasture all were wormed prior to lambing but they have all now developed scouring.
I am unsure if it is just the grass and feed combination being to rich or should they be wormed again a bit worried as lambs are only a week old.
Any suggestions welcome

Mine are wormed up to date and have started getting softer poos (not scouring) this last week as the grass is coming through.
Could you take a sample to your vet for a worm count?

I'd suggest putting them on hay and reducing the amount of rich grass they're on. (fence a bit off for them)

If they've been inside on hay and now they're out on lush grass the effect will be rather like drinking a bucket of orange juice in one go.  How clean is the pasture likely to be?  This is the start of the main season for nematodirus, although older ewes will probably have built up a degree of immunity.
