Kerstin my main pc is Windows XP and the lap top Vista. I put the lap top onto my printer and it threw out the PC with XP. It can only be one or the other I was told.

even if the printer is run via a USB? As nothing at all was happening on the PC I have he feeling it might be a hardware problem. I only loaded the printer onto the laptop after he trouble started yesterday... :&>

Could you maybe clear absolutely everything off the old one except what they need?  Or is it totally dead anyway?

James, my laptop is on XP, my PC was on Vista and is now on Windows 7 - both can send to my two printers with no problem. One printer is a deskjet and the other a laser.  To my knowledge it's the settings that control whether a printer can be used not the operating system.

I managed to get in via the visitors icon today, took ALL programs off liek the new printer, games, spyware, and defragged it, ran the virus scan. The resident shield actially found a worm, so hard ro tell what caused the problem. At least he kids can go on and homework will go on a memory stick and printed off mine...relief  :&>
