in early puberty most of mine are like those shy 13yr old boys who would rather hang out with their mates and play rough and tumble and head butting games. The type who think girls are totally pointless and boys are are cool. As they get older they try and mount the girls as more of a dominance gesture as they do their rammy mates. Occasionally I get one or two of the "knows what IT is for" types but as a breed they dont get really serious about it until the ewes start to cycle later in the year. My ram lambs are all up for it come autumn though and breed well with experienced ewes but they are probably equivalent to 18yrs olds by then I guess.
If you have someone to help thats great and castrated rams are much easier as they dont need to be separated. If I had a bolshy breed I would have to get on with it but I manage to cop out.
