sheep with a messy backside
« on: January 22, 2010, 10:32:13 am »
My wether lamb from last spring has a messy back end. The others running with him are all fine and clean. His diet has not changed and he is well enough in himself. Any ideas?

I am sure you have, but has he been wormed recently?  Otherwise, could be a bug - vet tells me sheep
get them as often as humans do.

do sheep get the same worms as cattle? What I mean is, can worms from cattle infect sheep?

I was always of the impression they didn't, but you might want to check with someone qualified.  I am quite sure they don't though.  I know goats and sheep do.   Internet usually has plenty of info on such issues.

Worms are generally host specific - so horses can't infect sheep, or cows.
