Just wondering if anyone has sucessfully mixed silkies and bantams.  I have a silkie pair, a frizzle and two pekin bantams who are currently separate.  I am looking for some more hens but hampered by this awful wet and windy weather (more to come on Wednesday)!  Keeping them all dry is a nightmare - not enough room in the emergency greenhouse!  Just a little worried that my cockerel will tread the smaller bantams and squash them!!!

I've always kept full size poultry and pekin bantams together with no problems beyond the initial pecking-order fracas.  I doubt the cockerel would bother them this time of year anyway, but I've never found any squashed bantams...

Hi there. I keep 9 Pekin bantams together with 3 RIR hens, 3 Marans hens and a couple of Welsummer girls, 2 crested legbar hens and a buff Orpington cockerel. This morning he was trying to tread one of my little Pekin girls, but she declined his amorous affections in no uncertain manner!! My feisty little Pekins more than hold their own in a mixed flock!!
