Mite be getting cattle, where to start?
« on: January 14, 2010, 01:13:02 pm »
Mite be getin a couple of aberdeen angus cows soon, so was wondering how it all works regarding paperwork etc? Ive read all the info on another thread and been on the defra site, but still have queries you guys mite clear up for me??
Well firstly, on the holding number and herd mark, is it the same as the one for the pigs or will they issue me another for cows?
On that note do i have to ring defra and register for cattle or do i just get a movement liscence for cattle and bring them home? Im assuming their passports come along with them as horses do?
Thanks Danielle

You will get a different herd number for cattle.
I'd ring Defra - in Scotland cattle movements are regulated by adifferent body to sheep / goats and pigs
Yes, their passports must come with them.

Hope this helps
