How much meat
« on: January 05, 2015, 08:54:32 pm »
Does anyone know roughly how much meat we would get off a well covered, 27 month old, Jersey heifer. We can't get Jennifer in calf  :'(. I phoned the market today and auctioneer said we would get about £200 for her so we were wondering if we were better off mincing her and  putting her  in the freezer (gulp!!). Dont mind eating my own animals but struggle with ones expected to be kept for breeding from  :-\.

Jersey meat is fantastic. We reared 2 Jersey bull calves in 2013 and the taste was out of this world. We are rearing Jersey x angus at the moment
