Occasional hire of livestock trailer wanted
« on: December 28, 2014, 09:56:41 am »
Is there anyone in the Notts/Derbys area that would consider hiring me a fully working livestock trailer 2-3 times a year.
It is to transport 2 llamas and needs to be ideally an 8' x 5' Ifor Williams or Bateson type with about 5' headroom.  I have a small trailer to transport my sheep, but my 8x5 trailer needs some attention so I thought I would enquire, as I only need transport for the llamas occasionally.  I would need to be able to tow it with a medium sized 1.9 diesel estate car.
Many thanks

We have a local trailer centre which hires all sizes of trailers and is quite reasonable. I would recommend going down that route as they will have insurance (I presume) whereas its a bit of a responsibility to take someone's trailer in case there is an accident. Not necessarily a crash but livestock damage for example or in my case not hitching on properly and luckily only damage was a broken cable.

Hi ScotsGirl.... many thanks I will see if I can find a similar company.... most of the ones I have found only have horse trailers and they are too heavy...

I think HFB Trailers in Leek (North Staffs, close to Buxton) might do so.
