Bad luck comes in threes ......
« on: December 21, 2009, 11:23:57 pm »
and it does seem to happen like that at our place.

Not been a good week, what with the loss of my cat suddenly, then the goat kid, and on Saturday we lost one of the pygmy nanny goats due to a freak accident.  At feeding time they do tend to get excited, and butt one another for the hay.  Unfortunately one of the castrated billies got a bit too energetic and caught a little female a hefty crack with his horns.  I think it broke her pelvis, as she went off her back legs.

Could not have happened at a worse time, as we got snowed in, and had difficulty getting to the slaughterhouse - so it was all rather traumatic.

This run of bad luck has got to me a bit, and I feel like selling all the animals before anything else happens.

What a B****rd

Surely that's your run of catastrophes done now and you can expect some good luck?

Give yourself a bit of a breather before you make any major changes though?

Hope next week is a whole different story

Soo sorry, how devastating, things like that always happen at bad times!! and heres me feeling sorry for myself after finding one of our 11 puppies dead...just eaten a huge Toberlarone from the £ shop :D Nature sorts itself out but we cannot help feeling guilty!! I am still looking a slob in my dressing gown and hair like Joe Brand (sorry Joe) and after that chockie, a chat with my daughter and the posts on her I fell better and what will be will be!!! Hope there is some nice times to come very soon! :)

What a shame, Roxy. Sometimes it just happens like that - hopefully that's it past.

Sorry to hear about the puppy, Sandy.

Oh Sandy, I'm so sorry - and I was going to bring the roll bars for you today too.  She probably rolled on it - did you try to revive it?  My car wouldn't start, battery dead - I've just put it on charge.  I'll try and come in past tomorrow if I get it going.

Just weighed them and they are doing well BUT, just as I sat here I heard one shouting and Isaly had it under her shoulders/head she did not move.....some long nights ahead I think!! I could post a video but not sure how just yet, I will work it out. Hope you get your battery charged soon...are only guest this week has rang to say he is snowed in in Pickering so not comming, so, for once, we are all alone!!

Roxy and Sandy so sorry to hear your news - its always devastating losing an animal, but something else will happen to make your heart melt, Roxy and you'll feel blessed to be surrounded by animals.

Roxy for some reason I have just read your thread, I am sorry to hear your sad news. Just think how empty your life would be if you had no animals. I know it's hell when something awful happens to them but remember the happy times they give you. :) I think though when something bad happens we all at some time think that's it no more animals but you soon come to your senses.

If it happens again check for a heart beat - I think I noticed you have a stethoscope?  If there is, don't stop rubbing till you get a gasp.  But if there was mucus she was probably past saving.  How much weight have they put on?  Mine averaged a daily increase of 50 grams for the first few weeks till they were weaned then they took off like rockets!
