Nite nite, you are a good help,  think she must have had breathing problems as that may be why she could not feed although she was feeding well and putting on weight...well, down to 9, fingers crossed for the rest...thanks

The pups were a week early and normally the viable date is 6 days maximum so it is quite possible that her lungs were not fully developed - just like a prem baby.  I'm not sure there is anything that can be done for such a puppy even if you had known earlier what might be wrong.  Does your vet know they were so premature?  he may have some suggestions in case any of the others appear ill.

How sad, Sandy. I never thought any of them would be in danger now. Fingers crossed for the nine - the Fellowship of the Ring!

As they are difficult to identify, even with the tippex, it may have been the one that died that has been crying on and off!! Hope all the rest are OK as even the firl who died had put on weight, just lost some the day before she died, she seemed in pain as she made a noise when others cam near to her and Islay would not clean her...a sign she knew she was ill :'( We both had trouble sleeping last night, although the pups were quiet and are getting little charactors, trying to walk around. GOing to register them now.

i am sorry for your loss.it might be some consolation to tell you we had a pup who was the runt and mum wouldnt have anything to do with her so my sister bottle fed her,she grew but she died at 6months as her kidneys failed, sometimes  the mums just know ,still hard though.

That is a consolation and I understand but you do feel sorry for these wee mites!!! At the vets there was a young man worried out of his wits with a little pup with a bent tail, he woke up to find one of his dead and was very upset...I suppose it's natures survival of the fittest!!!!! I hope no more deaths, we need a good start to the New Year!!

Don't want to put a dampener on but I don't register them till after they're properly weaned.  I have had a pup with megaesophagus - had to be put to sleep at 9 weeks after a traumatic 4 weeks of struggling to get him to keep food down.  Also have had pups coughing - that is a sign of heart problems, and that one ahd to be put to sleep to.  Best wait a few weeks - no rush anyway so long as you do it online before they are 8 weeks and ready to go.

Sorry to hear that Sandy, but as scattybiker says, usually the mums are good indicators if its just one out of the litter (ie, some mothers will ignore everything of course)  heres hoping the rest continue to thrive

Is that a picture of your Labrador scattybiker? It's sweet as we take the pups to the front room at night so Islay can stretch out and they feed from her not too far from the fire, we can watch and monito everything...after a weigh in tonight they all had put loads on and most of thier eyes are peeping open, looks cute!!! We have had so many enquiries already but if they don't all sell we will keep 2 and give the rest to Guide dogs for the Blind as I am sure they would pass.....

Was so nice last night, Ben is always fascinated by the pups but is very cautiouse around Isaly as she is the Boss. Isaly appears very relaxed to have Ben around and she lay feeding them on her rug and Ben came along sniffing and cleaning them as she lay back, all very sweet, the pups looked like they enjoyed the attention too....

Just you wait.............................................

I have dog world war 10 going on in my kitchen almost every three hours - what a racket.  No longer are they sweet innocent little babies, they are now tooth baring, ear pulling, bottom biting, bed ragging, poo plodding, hunger screaming, horrible little brats that I hope go away very soon.  And that's only 5!!!!
