Getting the Most from Farm Woodland, Wed 5th November, 10:00 to 13:00, Ruthven Farm, Glenlivet
A practical farm walk highlighting how farm businesses might benefit from planned, newly planted and established woodlands - including shelter for livestock, flood risk reduction, river bank stabilisation, disease risk reduction and woodfuel. Trees: a Valuable Resource. Woodland Management and Biomass, Wednesday 26th November, Newton Stewart 
A practical day looking at trees: from planting and pruning to processing; how to manage existing woodland; opportunities for selling wood and wood fuel; what you need to know to commission a boiler; the RHI and an introduction to the Woodland Trust. Speakers include Neil Harrison, re:heat; Russell Jobson, Woodland Trust and Alasdair Hendry, Forestry Commission Scotland. The day will also include a visit to McNeill Estates, Newton Stewart. The event is free to farmers and other land managers & £60.00 plus VAT to others. Places are limited and booking is essential so lunch and resource packs can be provided.
