Mini Med Donkey has trouble standing

Hi,

This is my first post so apologies if it is in the wrong place.

I’ve just come back from tending my donkeys and one was not able to stand on its own accord and looked like it had been down an hour or so. It was eating and stood up with help from myself and stayed on its feet. It seems to be holding its back leg gently but was in no discomfort when I checked around its back end. Its appetite is fine and is soiling fine.

I wonder if it is just a sprain as it was fine this morning.

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

I would suggest getting a vet and or farrier to have a look. He may have anything from a sprain or knock to an abscess in the foot or any number of systemic illnesses. If he cannot get up unassisted, he needs medical attention for whatever is causing it.

If this was mine I'd have the vet ASAP.

What did the farrier say?  :fc:
