Hi All - Newbie here
« on: December 06, 2009, 09:38:52 am »
Hi everyone,

Another un' from Scotland ere!

Not (yet) a smallholder, but would like to possibly start with a few hens etc in the near future.  We live in a big detached property so shouldn't be too much of a problem to start (when we find the time!) We already own working Collies, and also own a gundog, so its a start!  ;)

I was also wanting to ask where it would be best to post the burning question i had - I am looking to get a horse next summer and interested in possibly helping out a wee bit for some experience.  So was looking for someone who maybe would enjoy a bit of help now and then.  I certainly wouldn't be looking for any money - Just after the experience!  I have some riding experience etc, but little or no hands on stable experience.

Anyway was wondering where i should post this type of question?

Lovely to be here and it looks a super board!  :)

Hi Kits,

We're in the Falkirk area, plenty of animals, but no horses I'm afraid. Have you tried asking at the local racing stables? They usually look for people to exercise the horses and help out in the stable at weekends. There's racing stables at Glenfarg, and at Arlary (Milnathort). Don't know of any others in Fife itself though.
