Guess how much
« on: September 05, 2014, 01:36:00 pm »
Hi,
Last week I had booked 2 large cages at the rare breeds sale at Lanark, a gander in one and a pair of geese in the other, so 3 birds in total.
They made £110, which made me very happy  ;D however I received my cheque today, now I'm not very happy  :'( as it says in the title " guess how much" it cost to have the auction mart sell my birds.
Sorry there are no prizes for anyone who can guess correctly.
Regards
Sue

Our local auction seems to be selling things at a very close to 'costs' price recently  ::)

Oooh let me play!

I am guessing there was a minimum selling charge then a percentage - so I think your cheque was 59.00

Hi,
Some of you are very close, after taking off all charges, I made £77, which means the auction got 30% or £11 per bird, and then as Bloomer pointed out, they take another 5% off the buyers!!!
I for one will not be selling any more at the poultry sales at Lanark :'(
Doganjo I had thought about gumtree or preloved but as someone on another thread pointed out, a potential purchaser got all their details including a post code and then said they didn't want what they were selling, now they are left wondering if they will come and help themselves!!!!!!
Regards
Sue

I think you can withhold information on ebay and gumtree though - just give approximate area.  I might be wrong though as I don't use them much

I have just bought some sheep off Preloved and  am thinking of buying some more off that site. I would rather buy from a known source. I probably payed  more than I would at market but want to know where they come from. I had advertised on here and had no response. I think its a good value site and only as risky as any other form of advertising

Cheviot, have you checked with the mart there's not been a miscalculation?  That seems well above what's reasonable.
