moving my pig pen
« on: November 24, 2009, 10:41:03 pm »
Hi all,
      I'm after a bit of advice, ( what's new )
at the weather seems to have decided to keep up the pace with the rain, we now need to move the pigs pen but where's best
there's a part of the field that's in a dip and im wondering how the pigs will cope with the slope if we move it to there
im thinking it will maybe solve my other problem of them burrowing under the fence
what's your opinion,
and how the heck do I stop them tipping up the water buckets aaaaaarrrrrggggg

Use old tyres to contain the water buckets.  Some will still turn over the bucket and the tyre, some wont.

My pigs are in an area of hill and scrub and love it. Aslong as pigs have a warm house then you can practically put them anywhere!!

thanks for the advice, we've looked into getting tyres for the buckets but I wasn't sure the little pigs would be able to reach it, ill give this idea a go though
thanks again

We have a heavy stone trough for the girls, which had a little step up to it when they were small. Although its not the easiest thing to clean, so I'll shut up now....!

Smaller pigs will step on the tyre to reach the water.  Just keep the buckets topped up as far as pos.
