hens on holiday
« on: November 22, 2009, 02:58:43 pm »
Has anyone sent their hens somewhere else and then had them back again? I am taking my hens to live at my friends house where hopefully they will mingle with his hens, whilst I am away for two months. should I bring them home or leave them with him at the end? I suppose I could wait and see what happens whilst I am away and see how they have settled in or not?

When we had two (this was ages ago) They went with the rabbits and dogs to the kennels, and lived with their birds for a month, then came back with us as if nothing was different

I think you need to be sure none of the birds are carrying any disease before mixing one flock with another.  I have introduced new birds to my existing flock on a number of occasions without any problems and I gave one of mine to a friend again with no problems.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
