Good things come to those who wait....

First ever harvest from my plum tree!  :excited:

We planted it about 8 years ago, before we even started building the house. It never even flowered, no plums... I was actually going to take it out last year, but it has grown into a nice shaped tree and so was left.

Then this spring it exploded into flowers, I was gobsmacked! and then in due course some little plum-like things grew! Now have harvested about 1kg of Victoria plums -they were eaten within the hour by us all.  :yum:

I am so pleased that the tree finally decided to have some plums and that I didn't chop it down. So now I just hope it continues to thrive... :fc:

Great news,  :excited: just don't expect a bumper harvest every year  :innocent: - plums seem to go on a  two year cycle.

Wish I knew what variety mine are - they are delicious.  They fruit early in the season and are a deep red. very sweet.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

My plum trees took an age before they produced anything. I think it must be a plum thing.

I've had a handful this year from the ones I planted the winter before last - yummy! Could do with a few more though, hope it's not going to be another six years!

Congrats. It's been the first year that the established plums aroud here have fruited in the 3 yrs I've owned it. But wasps had more than me. The new plums I put in haven't done anything yet. But they are knocked back by fan-training.

Well at least now I know the tree CAN be productive, rather than being something other than a plum.... Every other year is quite common with some of my apples, again this year some are laden with fruit and others have zilch.

Our Victoria plum has fruited properly for the first time this year - also planted 7 years ago ::) .  Every day I go out to try and beat the wasps.  First year I've had plenty of full sized fruit from the Bramley too.  Maybe it really is all starting to come together... :fc:
