Wormy sheep
« on: August 14, 2014, 04:35:36 pm »
A couple of my sheep suddenly looked a bit off colour so I wormed them yesterday. I'm kicking myself for not doing it earlier (long story)
One of them still looks a bit fed up although she is eating a little and on her feet and with the others.
They are up to date with fluke drench so should be no problems there.
My question is, does she now need anything else or will the wormer just get her back to normal?
Thank you

Best bet is to do a FEC before worming, that way you know what the problem is, if worm related, and can choose an accurate wormer.

I.E I have two batches of lambs on two different pieces of ground. FEC'd them recently and one needed worming with a white based drench, the other batch an Ivermectin based one.

Hi.
Thanks for the reply.
I rang the vet who didn't think it was worms and it was probably the onset of pneumonia.
Apparently very common with the change in weather this year.
