Used Books from USA - do they incur import tax?
« on: August 11, 2014, 11:18:39 am »
I am keen on a book, via abebooks, but it is in the USA. It is a used book from a secondhand bookshop. Does anyone know if this will incur import duty/tax at the UK end on top of the normal postage fee?

Anke, I don't know whether you *should* incur a tax or not, but I've bought loads of books from the USA and elsewhere via Abebooks over the past few years, and have never been charged.

I have bought from Abe books and was not charged extra tax. The book, if I could get it was twice the price in the UK
