Pigs gone to the butcher

Our first three pigs have gone- the yard is so empty without them! I think we did ok, they were large blacks. We got back 480lb (217kg)  of pork and 81lb(36kg) of sausages!

Does that sound right I wasn't sure how much to expect.

Morris at Lutterworth were great and killed and butchered for £40 plus £5 for boning and rolling- really helpful.
We are looking to do mangalitza pigs next. We are looking locally - if anyone has any tips. We would like them to be ready to wean in august.

Help tips or advice gratefully recieved.

It certainly sounds okay. What age were they?
By my reckoning your dead weights must've been in the region of 100kg each ? So maybe 10-12 months old?
Your on to a winner with your butchery costs! That's a REALLY good price, my butcher would have been around double that!
Mangalitzas are slower growing than Large Blacks, a bit more active and can lay down huge amounts of fat if you're not careful (obviously if you're looking for lard it's no bad thing)
