Happy Halloween!
« on: October 31, 2009, 06:16:50 pm »
Who goes trick or treating?? who turns all the lights off and pretends they're not in? ;D  I never let my children go as I see it as begging :-\  but did give in a couple of years ago (peer pressure ;D) it seems the done thing in alot of towns now! Folk that want the kids to knock (little 'uns not big hairy teenagers!) have a pumpkin or something spooky on show, so they went on the understanding they only knocked where they were wlecome! and had a great time!   this year the boys are all away on a rugby tour so I'm home alone with my carved, home grown pumpkin ;D, a bottle of M&S bubbly, choccies and X Factor, and am too far off the beaten track to be disturbed  ;D what you all doing this evening?

We're not trick or treating - but we're in the middle of the country with no street lights or near neigbours  :(
We are staying in to watch a bit of Strictly and Xfactor with some popcorn.
Hubby's out in his Taxi - dressed as a skeleton and with a fully halloween pimped cab ;D ;D ;D Truely getting into the spirit of things (or hoping for lots of tips  ;))

I'm in the study at the back of the house with all the rest of the lights out and this door closed and the curtains drawn.  I'm not really a grumpy old wifie, I'm waiting for Belle to go into labour. As soon as I've finished my fish and chips I'm going to eat the spooky chocolate money I bought in case I got visitors. ;D ;D ;D

Yes, Belle is a Brittany.  Her pups are due Tuesday but she was three days early last time with half as many pups as this time (scan shows 6 definite, possibly 7)  So didn't want ehr to get excited.  No sign yet though - she has just eaten half my fish and chips and her temperature isn't low enough yet.

We only trick or treat neighbours we know well and always phone them the week before to check its OK to visit and give them a time.  One of the houses we visit is up a dark bridle path so its perfect for the boys.  We have never had other children visit us as we are off the beaten track and no neighbours have children.

Don't trick or treat here as don't really have the kids of the right age but that change for next year (possible), but it'll only be pre-arrange people we know.
We have been in this house for about 4 years and had no-one chap but this year we had loads of peeps but we didn't have anything in. So i was a bit bah humbug and didn't answere the door.

SO happy Halloween from the fluffywelshsheep's Flock btw we had a party here with lots of home made 'wintery' food

We are down a farm track and across another track, and about a mile from the nearest village, so do not get the kids.  To be honest, it does seem like begging to me.  I know a lot of people who draw the curtains and hide without answering the door!!

My friends son said he was off trick or treating.  Last year, three houses handed him a leaflet he said, and apparantly it was condemning trick or treating, and saying it was not a christian thing to do.  So he is hoping to bypass those houses this year.

As we drove up from the village tonight, we passed about 20 small children on a dark lane, with just one adult with them.  Hope they were not going to all land in the village, but it looked likely!!!

We used to do it years ago but you had to do something - sing, tell jokes, recite a poem - like the X Factor, really. Most folk were really nice.

Fourteen of us went to a history park that puts on tours ,ghosts jump out scary sound effects and in the old cottages they do little sketches.Very entertaining great value for money 2.5hrs long. So much easier than our usual thing of a large ghost hunt around the fields with the kids and their friends with loads of scary and very mucky games and masses of food .It took  a full day to set up the trail with graveyards etc and another to dismantle and put all the props back in the loft.

We went on a ghost tour of a local town one year.
The fair is in town here this year, so most of the trick or treaters went there for cheap rides!
As it was our wedding anniversary tuesday,we had a bit of a party last night, with all the halloween decs up, some scary food (stinking bugs eggs, snozzcumbers, worms in jelly etc!) and a jack o'lantern outside the door just in case, that burns all night (weather permitting!)

We have a big hang-up witch - Sheba the dog was quite scared, she cowered and barked! Cos it has a face I think... good job I didnt put the batteries in - her barking would activate the cackle and red flashing eyes!!

Would love Halloween visitors.   Too far out of village for anyone to visit here.
