swine flu spread to Turkeys in Canada

http://www.pighealth.com/influenza.htm

Should do the sale of turkeys for Christmas the world of good !!!! Lots of older info on the site , but some of the latest as well . Just click on the highlighted blue links once on the main page.

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2009/04April/pages/swineflulatest.aspx

the above shows the latest reports on the UK situation. Cases have doubled in the last week to 53,000, with another 16 people dying in the UK .
The government should get their finger out and get more people vaccinated ...then we can really see the figures of deaths rise....?
They must be nearly out of the  best before Oct 2009 and Jan 2010 Tamiflu now too , since they aren't pushing it as much now !! Or could it be that people are starting to realize that Tamiflu is at least as bad as swine flu , if not a lot worse.
I looked through a dozen or more deaths due to swine flu ? (information is difficult to get hold of ), and every single one deteriorated significantly AFTER  being given Tamiflu , all with known Tamiflu reaction symptoms , and then died....All due to UNDERLYING health issues ?
They still insist on telling us that swine flu affects the 20 - 45 fit and healthy age group the worst. Yet they then say that 90%+ of those that have died, had underlying health issues and were either very young or very old ?
It seems to me they don't know what to say ....it is a huge monumental cock up . A created deadly virus, allowed to sweep the world ( for what reason we can only guess?, how many guesses do you need ?) and then it doesn't work as it says on the tin !!!
So they bring in some ready to be thrown away 'WONDER' drug 'Tamiflu' , and that helps wipe a few more out .... but still not enough .. so they magically create another wonder ....a vaccine that was created before the virus existed ? How many will this 'WONDER' wipe out ?

cheers

If Swine Flu comes knocking on our door I certainly won't be rushing out for Tamiflu or getting vaccinated although I'm not sure what my OH will do as an asthmatic he may be offered it.

A friend's lad has Swine flu at the moment and part of me wants to take my boys round so they get it before it becomes more virulent - if it does of course.  Maybe that's a totally irresponsible attitude!

not sure on that one ?  If it becomes more virulent , then that means it has mutated . If it has mutated, then it depends on how much it has done so , if there is going to be any resistance to another attack ? If it only changes slightly then yes there will be some immunity .
If however, it mutates/changes  a lot, then  immunity lessens correspondingly !!
I personally wouldn't play with fire ...if I get it then so be it  , I will deal with it one way or another . But to go looking for it ? ..no,  I think not.
Each and every one of us will have different views on the subject , and hopefully would do what they think best for their family . A considered opinion and decision is needed and then do what you feel is best for your family , you have then done the best you can .

cheers

My friend's youngest is having a birthday/halloween party on Saturday so we may well be going to her house anyway assuming she hasn't battoned down the hatches.  I don't know how long someone is contagious for.

No I am not sure without checking .....but if it were a week then I would give THAT person their week, then a week for each person in the house . Working on the basis that when the first person goes down with it , they pass it on to another ...then they pass it on and so. After that period was up I would then add on a couple of weeks just for good luck ...over the top maybe ....but better safe and alive than dead and well dead!!!!

cheers

Like Dixie I won't be rushing out to be vaccinated, and I certainly won't be getting the kids vaccinated - in fact I've told them if anyone tries to give them a jag at school they've to kick up a fuss and insist the school phone me  :o
My neighbour's had it and best friend's sister too - does seem to be quite extreme. In the case of my friend's sister, who's 22, it lasted for 2 weeks and she was so weak she had to be carried to the bathroom. I did think about taking the kids to visit, but decided better of it - don't want to take any chances with the wee man only being 6 months old. The girls have got good, strong immune systems (all that playing with mud & animals  ;) ) and no 'underlying health problems' so hopefully, if they do get it, we'll be fine.
Funny though, how the cases have all of a sudden doubled just before they roll out their mass imunisation programme  ??? Surely our government aren't trying to cause a mass panic and have everyone rush to get injected with god only knows what  ::)
