Yes indeed. And they were just young men. We owe them.

I've recently been going through old papers belonging to my mother and I found a Roll of Honour from Hoxton Manor Club in London - the boys used to play football and cricket.  There were dozens of names on the list, died in everything from bombing raids on the East End to the Burma Railway, and none over 23 years old.  I sat and looked at that list for a long time .....

We really have no idea of how horrendous it must have been and in this day and age it is so easy to forget such momentous sacrifices.   I really hope that in years and years to come these courageous individuals are still being remembered.

Did anyone by chance see that programme on the war horses and mules aired at the beginning of this week - parts of it were horrible to watch but it really did bring it home.

I have been privileged to walk alongside some of those brave men and women on the march past the Cenotaph - it is a very humbling experience. :bouquet: to those no longer with us.
