Essex Saddleback Weaners for Sale

:pig:Father is Marty from Harlow City Farm and Mother is Charlotte, who i got from there.

I have 6 and they are ready now (7 weeks old)

I am near Harlow.

They are the best litter she has had (its her third) with very good markings and a VERY good size.

I have always kept her progeny before but need to cut down (I work 70 miles from where I live!)

They are so lovely I would be willing to donate one or two to a charitable project or city farm if they would breed from them.  The Essex Saddleback is a rare breed that isn't yet recognised as such. It derives from one farmer who refused to mix his Essex saddlebacks with Wessex saddlebacks (which became the British Saddleback.

They have lovely temperaments and are known for their mothering skills and meat quality.

Hi Della

I will PM you the email address of Jimmys Farm manager and send him the same email as your advertisement here.

The Essex Pig is a very important part of English Heritage and I hope you find a home suitable for their expansion.

I would gladly take some but alas I live in Ireland.

There is a web site (under construction) on the Essex Pig for people whom are interested in the breed and its background.  www.essexpigsociety.com

I know what you mean Dixie, I too thought of breeding Essex pig's, but the gene pool seems very small and it's hard enough finding a good boar around here without even trying to find an Essex one. But I  really would love a Essex gilt, being a born & bred Essex (in a small village near Harlow) Sow myself !!  ;D Not sure the OH is too keen though - he thinks I have too many piggies already and one Essex girl is enough for any Man  :o :pig: :pig: :pig:

Actually, there are enough boars and gilts to get non matching sets.  The Essex Pig people are very helpful.. :pig:they are lovely animals with a sweet temperament.  Not a gigantic pig by any means though.
